The Dachshund is also known as the Teckel.
In Germany it was used as a hunter during the Middle Ages and when he left for Britain, it became a recreational dog. In 1873 the Kennel Club recognized it as a race.
The Dachshund is balanced, has a very strong personality and barks a lot. Sometimes it is tough and stubborn. It is good with children and the elderly and likes to be pampered and rewarded.
